Shard Mosaic flower pot made from shards from plates, cups, tile, glass gems....even the flower pot is upcyled!  I used rich dark terra cotta grout to pull the entire mosaic piece together!

Why should I win?...I love the fact that I'm recycling items for my shard mosaic art! This is one way I can minimize my impact on our natural resources and the environment. I also feel that recycled art and design has the potential to encourage others to see new possibilities of use in discarded items!  This is what my Shard Mosaic Art and Business is all about!

Journi writes: Hi! Thanks for your compliment about my Flower Power mosaic flower pot! I always use Cement based thinset mortar (tile adhesive) that is frost-resistant. It is in a powdered form and I always use some PVA - a liquid additive to this mixture to add extra strengh to the cement mixture. Also use frost-resistant grout - just look on the package to see if it is. I use the grouts and adhesives found at the (major) home improvement stores. Just make sure you use sanded grout for outside use. I then seal my outside mosaic work with a water-proof sealant. Thompson water seal for cement is great - just don't use that on bird-baths.

I really like your work, too! Good to meet you! ~Journi

Again, beautiful
