I created this iris to be as true to life as possible.  I chose an iris 'Sweeter Than Wine' to replicate.  It took me some time figuring out the crochet pattern for this flower.  I decided to use embroidery floss because of the ability to match the colors near perfect, and for the overall softer look (than crochet thread).  Additionally, I was able to blend the colors very smoothly.  I have to say, I am very excited about how this turned out.  I would love to be one of the winners, mostly because I spent two weeks on this project, but also because I enjoy creating my own designs and would one day love to write my own craft books.

stitchlady writes: Your iris is absolutely beautiful. I learned to crochet as a child only by sight. My grandmother couldn't talk because of a permanent trake, but showed me stitches. I'd love to try your iris pattern. Thanks for posting such colorful and detailed pictures. Thanks for sharing.
