Red and Silver Trashion Flower Power
September 30th, 2008 in sewing, fashion, restyle, jewelry making, galleryThis snazzy brooch is a real conversation starter, as its made entirely with
recycled materials. The red petals are from the inks on plastic
shopping bags which have been fused with a hot iron and then cut to shape. The
silver petals are from a potato chip bag which I originally planned to use for the bright colors on the front of the bag - imagine my surprise when I flipped the flower over and saw the beautiful shiny silver from the inside of the bag. The red button on top is from my grandma's button box which she kindly let me raid for craft projects. She tells me that button has been on a few adventures in its time.
My flower has a lot of of flower power since the recycled elements keep trash of of landfills (even if it is just a little bit - I like to think it makes a difference).
