Inspiration for the Make It Pink Challenge
October 9th, 2008 in fashion, jewelry makingThe Make It Pink Challenge is well underway, and if you are still planning to submit crafty entries, here are some ideas for beads and supplies to use!
SoftFlex has some great options like pink Artistic Wire and the pink tourmaline CZ rondelles pictured. In-house designer Sara Hardin, aka softflexgirl here at CraftStylish, also keeps a beading blog of her projects and travels to jewelry-related events. But most recently she's spotlighting her efforts to raise money for breast cancer research: she and her aunt are walking in a 3-day fundraiser next month!
She's also posted a free project tutorial in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month -- a Pink Earrings and Bracelet Set using pink crystal beads and Artistic Wire, which includes handmade earring wires -- a nice touch! Don't miss the dozens of other free project tutorials on the site, from necklaces and bracelets to home accents.
Meanwhile, if you search "pink bead" in their supplies category, Etsy offers almost 10,000 results; you can narrow it down by looking for "pink vintage bead" or "pink bead lot," for example, or filter by price. One of my favorites is this assorted mix of acrylic flower beads, offered by PinkyNoodles.
If you have other pink beads, supplies, or embellishments to recommend, or creative fundraisers (like Taunton's generous donation of $10 for each prayer shawl entry in the Make It Pink contest) to spotlight, I'd love to hear about them!
