New Hiking Dress with Corset but Comfy bodice
December 8th, 2008 in sewing, galleryWow - this is my very latest Hiking Dress. I plan to make more with this kind of Corset bodice as I LOVE the way it fits and shapes the torso so come back again and check in with my studio to sample more treats.
I construct my knits with a strong three thread overlockstich a keep the edges cut & raw. The romantic ruffles gives just a touch more mystery to the shapely princess seams and plunging neckline. The sleeves are open and full at the ends in contrast to the trim waist. The hem is cut wide for hiking and taking big steps, with a three inch flounce for a bit of extra fun.
Made from 4 navy 100% cotton hanes heavy weight t-shirts
Size has some stretch so fits a size small.

You too can make your own shapely bodices, check out this nice hardback crafting treasure.
I was inspired to get into shaped bodices after reading this lovely photo essay based on using T-shirts for various outcomes. It is a great read - with patterns in the back. Check out the link to the site about the book: Alabama Stitch Book:
