One of the easiest things we needleworkers can make for guys are hats. There are all kind of free patterns out there, but I like this one because it takes the traditional beanie a little further with a double-brimmed visor that's stylish and practical. Click on over to her free pattern and Steigerbeat. It's worked from worsted weight yarn, which is always easy to locate, and if you don't have any, you can go to almost any craft chain and grab a skein for under $5. At that price, you can make these for all of your brothers, sons, or cousins, too! Personally, I think it'd suit any female just as well- check out all of the modifications on Ravelry (login required) if you need inspiration.
