Yum! A Deliciously Comfy Dress that Looks Fabulous, Too
June 25th, 2007 in sewing, fashion, books & more
There’s nothing quite as easy pulling on a dress, adding a couple of accessories, and being ready to run out the door. Make that dress in soft, stretchy jersey knit fabric, and you’re twice as happy. For your go-to pattern, try Simplicity 3678, an empire-waisted design that’s quick to sew and can be dressed up or down, depending on your choice of fabric. The pattern includes both a surplice-style bodice and a U-neckline style, both with gathers or pleats to add softness and shaping. Use any of the three sleeve variations, or adapt one of the fuller sleeves to a narrow, straight style if you prefer. And experiment with the length—shorten a little for a summery baby-doll dress, or more for a tunic or overblouse.
