Awesome Indie Fashion Site Gets a Makeover
June 30th, 2008 in fashion, gifts, jewelry makingIf you are already dialed in to the indie fashion scene then you are most likely a huge fan of Smashingdarling.com. If you're new I highly recommend that you check them out because have they got a treat for you, Smashingdarling V2 launches today, Monday. This hot designer website is home to over four hundred established and emerging fashion design boutiques. The new site functionality makes it super easy to cruise on through and swoon over fantastic clothing, stunning jewelry and wicked hip accessories. All are beautifully crafted and many are one of a kind wonders.
I am extremely lucky and got to take a sneak peek at the new site. Here are just a few of the new features: improved navigational ease and filters to help narrow a search. A special event section to keep you posted on upcoming designer showcases. The spiffy designer boutiques will soon have mini-blogs for you to keep up with your faves and bigger pictures for you to drool over. What was intended as a quick test drive turned into over an hour of bookmarking and 'notes to self'. Every boutique I looked at featured amazing, unique, and beautiful fashion design.
Here are just a few (really I could write up a ten page post on this!) of my faves. Designer Laura Dawson has the perfect additions to any urban wardrobe. Clean, whimsical lines and expert draping make for the kind of dresses that work for a day at the office and a night out with friends. I loved the witty and cool jewelry design at Go Robot. Many pieces are crafted from unconventional materials with refreshing and inspired twists on the more traditional. Kwabena by Andrew Osafo has a nice selection of dresses that remind me very much of fictional fashion goddess Carrie. I can just picture her waltzing around Manhattan in one of these babies. And if vintage or restyle is your game you can play it well at Lone Star Vintage featuring one of a kind splendors that sweep you into past golden ages of great fashion.
