Handmade tiny Dream Catcher from the late 70's. This was crocheted & hand knotted with shells & beads. The photo is also from the 70's.

80's yellow lace dress, designed to be worn over a black unitard or leggings & a t. From a time when it was all about being different, lingerie worn on the outside, work boots with dresses & bright colors. Some embroidery along the neck, waist & hem. Made by me.
Breakfast jacket. Again, from a colorful & individualistic time. Worn with short jeans & work boots. Made by me.
80's pin. Safety pins where everywhere, scattered all over clothes & even for the "hardcore" types, pinned directly to skin! I wore them scattered on jackets, bags & other clothing. Made by me
This Camp Beverly Hills Pattern, from 1985, shows the preppy trend that was so popular in the 80's. Worn as is or "punked out" with boots, pins, torn...Part of the duality that was the 80's.

A look at some of the craft & sewing trends of the 70's & 80's, that mirrored the trends found on the street & in the stores of the day. The 70's was the "me generation" & the eighties was, at least in the beginning, a reaction against the establishment of the day, fading into the more regimented looks that followed, preppy & corporate (shoulder pads & all). I hope you enjoyed this short look into some of the handmade trends of the past!
