Pressed Flower Delights
April 14th, 2009 in other crafts, gifts, home decorating, crochet, galleryIn the first photo is a pressed flower bouquet picture I created. I crocheted a flat circle with organic cotton brown yarn, and glued it down to the background for the "vase". The background is a linen type high fibrous paper made from a banana plant, and imported from India. It mimicks the look and feel of cloth.
Then, I layered multiple layers of different flowers from my garden, and I used an eco-friendly adhesive to attach each of the flowers. I also sprayed the whole thing with an eco-friendly sealant as well. I left this unframed for a more natural and organic look.
In the second and third photo, I created 3 bookmarks. I used recycled paper I had left over from scrapbooking. Then, I glued down the pressed flowers and leaves (again, from my garden) with the same eco-friendly adhesive. Then, I ran it through a laminating machine. I know it's hard to tell they are laminated with my pictures, but they are.
By the way, I pressed each of my flowers using a flower press that was microwave safe, and that process took only 30 secs, for each set of 5 flowers.
