Making a Great Blog!
April 20th, 2009 in other craftsI'm up to my eyeballs trying to figure out how to launch my little fashion sewing pattern line on the Web. Now that I've finished my first collection of patterns, I finally have something to sell. To promote myself, I built a few Web pages in Dreamweaver, and my boyfriend hitched them up to some mysterious space on the Internet. Bolstered by the excitement of having a .com, I started a blog. I thought it would be nice to have a place to share all my pearls of wisdom as they pertain to sewing, so I went to blogger.com, picked a template, and started my blog.
I really wish I had this guide BEFORE I started my blog! I began reading it on the computer, and I found it so thought provoking that I printed out a copy so I could jot down notes as I went along. I know I want to blog about sewing, but I never stopped to think about exactly what I was going to write about. This guide is fabulous; it covers every aspect of writing a great blog—from planning and brainstorming ideas, to identifying want you want to accomplish by writing your blog, to how to make it look out of this world with great photography and fancy sidebar elements.
