Bohemian Bag
May 3rd, 2009 in sewing, quilting, galleryHere's my finished "Bohemian Bag" using Lila Tueller's Soiree fabrics. (It's also a Lila Tueller bag pattern - I'm kinda a stalker, er, fan!) This was my very first quilting project, and I think it came out beautifully! I get comments on it daily - people assume I bought it - and that it's some exclusive new Vera Bradley design. I must say, I'm a huge Vera fan so I found that really flattering!
For the bag's interior, I used scraps of the polka dots to make the pockets. The interior fabrics are all covered with iron-on vinyl so it's water resistant. I was thinking of making this bag as a diaper bag for my little sister who's expecting her first baby in August. After carrying it, though, it's not really big enough to be a new mom's bag. (It works for me because my boys are 4 and almost 2 so I only have to carry 1 diaper and a small clutch of wipes on most trips out. Anything more, and I carry my Skip Hop backpack, which is the best diaper bag ever, BTW!)
And, not to toot my own horn (really, I must!) Lila HERSELF emailed me to compliment my completed bag!!! She also offered me some advice to my questions while I was sewing the bag. How cool is she?!
