My first quilt commission...in progress
May 16th, 2009 in sewing, gifts, home decorating, quilting, galleryI was commissioned to make a quilt, some tablecloths and napkins for an outdoor picnic wedding in June.
This is a picture in progress...it is queen sized and was quite tricky to baste and quilt. The design is my own...just a random, improvisationally pieced patchwork top. I love how it turned out.
This is my first wedding project. It was such fun to work with the bride-to-be...picking fabrics, looking at her wedding dress and bridal party dresses...the cake..all to match up fabrics. The quilt incorporates all the fabrics (6 different prints) and the table cloths and napkins were made from the individual fabrics. It was a bit nerve wrecking, as it was all done via telephone and internet! But she received the first half of the order and was thrilled. The remainder ships on Monday! I'll upload pics of the final quilt next week.
I hope to book another wedding soon...this was such fun!
