I found a plain T-shirt at Kohls for $2.  I decided to jazz it up with a little ribbon.  I just twisted, folded, and gathered up the ribbon, hand stitching in place.  I added a few beads and called it good.  More info on my blog, http://scattersunshine-janapl.blogspot.com/2009/08/t-shirt-embellishment-2.html
