Black Satin Strapless Gown
September 17th, 2009 in sewing, other crafts, fashion, restyle, galleryThis piece has 2 inspirations. First inspiration once again was the Oscars. This time it was dress by Atlier Versace worn by actress Drew Barrymore at the 2005 Oscars. The 2nd inspiration was a fabric choker necklace was one i saw online that admired so much.
The pattern that was used for this was Simplicity 5246(out of print) for the gown. The pattern for the fabric choker was made freehanded. The gown is made from black satin and is fully lined. It doesn't have a train like the inset picture, but it is a-lined and fitted. The design is simple, since the choker is the same fabric, i feel it's part of the gown even though it's not attached. I embellished it with lace edging, seed beads that loop and a rhinestone button in the front.
