Project Runway Episode 10 Recap
October 23rd, 2009 in sewing, fashionThis week, the Project Runway contestants were challenged to create ensembles inspired by different destinations. Their job was to make garments that evoked their location without looking too "costumey" or too boring.
I hate to say this, but this season is starting to bore me. How does everyone else feel? Are the designers wowing you in any way? Am I missing something here? When we're this far along in the show, I feel like there should be much more actual competition happening, and something that's just so-so can actually win an entire challenge these days.
Scroll through the designer's looks and sketches below and cast your vote for who you thought should be the winner and loser this week.
Nicolas

Here, Nicolas created a look inspired by Greece. The blouse included a bit of Greecian-inspired draping, but the pants looked more fit for an office instead of a vacation to Athens. Unfortunately this outfit sent him home this week.
Christopher

Here Christopher make a look inspired by Santa Fe, New Mexico. Guest judge, Milla Jovovich, loved the style and craftmanship of his belt, but the garments left the judges wanting more. I'm just ready for Christopher to bust out of his full-skirt rut that he seems to have been in this entire time.
Gordana

Gordana created this dress perfect for the lady of Park Ave, Manhattan. The handmade necklace is gorgeous, and the dress looks to be very well sewn.
Carol Hannah

Carol Hannah made a dress inspired by Palm Beach. Her detail in the top's braiding and perfect fabric selection almost gained her the win this week.
Althea

Althea made this outfit inspired by Saint Tropez and became the only one "safe" this week.
Logan

Logan's Holloywood-inspired getup was supposed to evoke the young Hollywood crowd. I think he could have put what he usually wears every day on the model and it would have been a closer hit than this.
Irina

Here, Irina made a three-piece ensemble inspired by the snow-bunnies of Aspen and took home the win for the week.

As far as this week's designs, I'm glad Nicolas is gone. He's only done one item that I really liked. I did love Gordana's Park Avenue look as well as Carol and Irina's looks. Maybe not totally fantastic looks, but definitely wearable and appropriate for the destinations intended.

You're right Sassymedusa, when I saw that the "spectacular Rodeo Drive" designer that they were visiting with was Micheal Kors, I almost fell off the couch laughing!
I also LOVE the recaps. We don't get long enough to study the garments on the runway... it's great to get a second look, and to hear other people's opinions.
