If you've ever looked for a soft alternative to PVC dryer balls, search no further than the balls of yarn under your couch. Casa Sugar  has a quick and simple tutorial on how to make your own versions using felted wool yarn and materials you likely already have on hand. The balls will felt even more as you use them, and they'll keep your clothes nice and soft. I think a nice colorful bowl of felted yarn balls would make me smile...even when I'm doing laundry.

Don't worry, I hadn't heard of dryer balls either till my mom raved about them. Basically, they are supposed to bounce around in the dryer and fluff up your towels (and apparently eliminate static cling, too). There's some debate about whether they actually work (referring to the pvc kind here), but, i think the felted ones are a fun idea for the loads where you don't want to use softener.
