Donate a Scarf to the Special Olympics
August 18th, 2008 in other crafts, knitting, crochetCoats and Clark is sponsoring a scarf drive where they aim to provide all of the athletes, delegates and dignitaries at this year's Special Olympics World Winter Games with a blue and white scarf. They want to collect at least 5000 scarves in order to acheive their goal. The scarves can be as simple or involved as you like--they even have free knitting and crochet patterns for the scarves on their site.
Donated scarves must arrive by January 15th--which gives you plenty of time if you'd like to participate. Details, including which colors to use and where to mail your donations, can be found on their webpage. You can read more about this project and find another free scarf pattern in an online excerpt from Crochet Today (click to download pdf).
