Flower Power Suede and Sand Flower Brooch
September 6th, 2008 in sewing, fashion, gifts, crochet, galleryI love making flowers! I love being surrounded by flowers - I love the colors, the scents and the beauty. It all goes back to when I was a little girl and would go to the local nursery with my mom and my grandmother every spring. My grandmother loved flowers and she would let me pull the wagon around as she filled it with plants and blooms. Her house was always full of these beautiful plants inside and out. Sadly she left us a few years ago, but I like to think that in my flower creations, a little bit of her love for flowers and their beauty lives on.
This flower is crocheted from a 100% nylon ribbon yarn that looks and feels like suede. It is in a beautiful sand color with chocolate brown leaves. The leaves are done in an acrylic yarn. A tan, textured vintage button is in the center. The flower is securely sewn to a large brooch pin. Flower measures about 4.5 inches (11.43 cm) across and about 6 inches (15.24 cm) across with the leaves.
