Clori Rose - Detail

Named for the fabulous Clori who dreamed of a silky white rose for her wedding gown.

The flower that developed from Clori's desires and my hands included a traditional Dior Rose nestled in an organdy rosette with leaves.

The Clori Rose is light weight, sports a variety of subtle texture, is classic with a bit of an asymmetrical twist. Simple elegance with a heart of fun and pizazz.

The traditional Dior Rose center has three petals with 3 layers, each layer a different fabric. The fabrics appear in different sequences in each petal.

Clori's Grandmother passed on 11 years ago, it brought tears to my eyes to be able to sew buttons from Clori's grandmother's collection into each petal and between petals.

The outer-most layer is an organza rosette with leaves underneath. Edges of the rosette and leaves are heat sealed.

Entirely hand sewn.

What pleased me most is it involved 4 women: Clori, who wanted the rose for her wedding dress; her Grandmother, with the legacy of buttons; myself, listening and creating; my teacher, Bobbie Carr, who introduced me to fine sewing.  (The making of the Traditional Dior Rose is in Bobbies book: "Couture: the art of fine sewing."

Creating in fabric is not an isolated experience, it brings together ideas, work, desires, treasures, teaching, learning, skill, techniques, communication;  what is so wonderful to me with the "Clori Rose" is how she exemplifies that flow and connection.
