Simply CHARMINg Flower Power
September 18th, 2008 in galleryCan you believe these original roses that were hand made by me are made out of.........yes TOILET PAPER??!!!!
Recently, my best friend Shirley had a bridal shower, and if any of you are familiar with the "Dress up the bride, and bridesmaids Toilet Paper Challenge" game, this is what I did @ the shower!!
All of the guests were totally amazed! Even my best friend Shirley loved it so much that she asked me to make the same bouquet EXCEPT out of ribbon and swarovski crystal (LOL!!), which I will gladly be doing in the next few weeks.
The way I make each of the roses is by folding them in the same way you would if you used actual ribbon. I use single sheets of toilet paper because the two-ply is too thick to make proper folds that crease well. I used 8 squares for the large rose, and 4 squares for the small roses. There is absolutely NO glue or tape holding these together. I just made sure I fold everything pretty tightly, but not too tight so the TP wouldn't tear. To hold the bouquet together @ the back, I just used wire wrappers from the grocery store. Then to create the bow the bouquet is resting on, all I did was tie a bow out of TP, and cut the tails to mimic real ribbon.
I think I should win this Flower Power Challenge because I am the only one who used toilet paper as the medium of choice, and with that, I have proven the one thing that all true artists and crafters know how to do, and that is, use unconventional items to create something fun, creative, unique , and innovative. I guess you can call this "thinking outside of the box" , or shall I say in this case "outside of the bathroom"!! LOL!!
By the way, I guess this could also be a great recycling, alternative craft. Going green was never more simply CHARMINg!
Please do not right click any of the images above, as they are all my original work, and original photographs. If you want to use any photos please contact me by posting a message here first. Thank you for your compliance.
