Crafting has been my passion from day one. Since I was a very young teen, I loved the creativity of garment sewing. I also like handbag design and sewing. My mom taught me to crochet when I was a child. My aunt taught me to knit when I was a child, but I did not do any actual knitting until I was an adult. I hope to do more with jewelry bead crafting because I love jewelry. Small scale quilting is something that I prefer to do over making large bed quilts. Home decorating is a priority for me because a happy home nest is a fruitful nest filled with comfort and security. You are most likely to find me at antique stores, swap meets, and flea markets. I have a love for all things vintage and vintage-style. My fabric prints prefence runs from vintage style to vintage-contemporary. I also love the fabrics from Anna Maria Horner, Jennifer Paganelli, Amy Butler, and others. I squeeze in embroidery when I'm able. I have digital scrapbooking on my "to do" list.

More of my handcrafted "Essentials" small purses.

Cottage Style Pillows

I'm currently sewing up some vintage cottage style pillows.  Even though the 2 photos I've added are pillows that are in need of being stuffed with batting, I thought I'd show them anywaynbsp...

I hope you enjoy viewing my purses that I call the "Essentials" small purse collection.  You are more than welcome to read more about them at my blog.

Re: "Essential" Small Purses

Hi Tammy,

I just had to visit your Etsy shop, and your creations are soooo sweet and creative! Mary Englebriet has a little saying that goes something like...Being creative is putting your work clothes on! I think that every creative person does just that!

Have a great creative work clothes day :)

Hi Janet,

I just saw your Etsy shop! Wow! You've created such beautiful things. Congrats on being featured in Apron-ology and Bloomacious. I sure could use a big dose of your energy to create the many items that you've made! Great job!

Thanks much for your kind comment! I love the soft, faded roses look too! And if they aren't soft and faded, no problem, I still love them :)

Have a great day!

Re: Who first taught you to sew?

I would watch my older sister sew, and she taught me a few things. I learned the most from my Home Ec. teacher. I still use the thread knot method that she taught me. When I struggled to fit a collar to my blouse, she showed me the mechanics of clipping a curve to gently stretch the collar to fit the blouse, and the pieces then fit together like a charm.

My teacher sewed her own wardrobe, and her garments looked so amazing that I thought they were store bought. She was my true inspiration behind my love for sewing. She instilled a sense of sewing craftsmanship that gave me a sense of pride and achievement in creating something from nothing, in my sewing endeavors.

To the best of my ability, I excelled at sewing, thanks to my teacher. I'm sure that she never suspected just how grateful I was for her talent, and for sharing her talent with me, her student. But I'll forever remember her, and be forever thankful to have been her student. To my favorite teacher...this smile is for you! :)
