I also like craft painting, polymer clay, writing, reading, cooking/baking, and computer games. I did wood working in middle school. I would like to do it again someday.
craft interests:
crochet, jewelry making, knitting, soap/toiletry making
I'm sorry you have to downsize. But I wondered how long you guys could keep it up considering the current economy. I know CS will still be great so I'm not worried. I disagree with the poster will mentioned making this a subscription site. I like it as a complement to the print magazine. I love Craft Stylish and Sew Stylish. It's always a special treat to buy the print version.
I think it's a lot of different factors happening at one time. The economy is part of it. I remember local bead shop owner said she does better business when the economy is bad. That was before all this happened. But crafting was on the rise a few years before the current ecomony melt down. Then everything has cycle. Crafting declined in the late 70's and 80's and came back in the late 90's and 00's. I agree that crafting is a type of therapy and people need that right now. These just a few of the factors I can think of right now.
My local Michaels has cut inventory. Ben Franklin and Hancock Fabrics have cut hours. I haven't been to Joann and the locally owned shops yet. I really can't tell how well they are doing in my area.
You finish your crafty to-do list only to realize that you haven't baked yet. Revise current recipes or select new recipes that have at least one ready made ingredent such as puff pastry or prepackaged crust.
I love being able to do more than one craft. It's so much fun. I'm always learning which is a passion of mine. Everything in your pictures look good. Have you tried journaling. It's related to scapebooking but it can be as wild or as tame as you want it to be.
Thanks for the walk away rule. I'll remember that for my next troublesome project. I don't sew yet. I'm intrested in how you restyled a pair of jeans into a skirt. I can't wait to see the whole skirt the embroidery is gorgeous.
This is very helpful. Acouple of years ago a LYS had a Yoga for Knitter's Class. At that time I didn't knit or crochet so I didn't get to go to the class. I wish I did.
Crochet By Faye website is full of inspiration. The designs I've seen from Blueprint Crochet look great. My only concern is will the size range of the pattrns work for me.
This is very pretty. Most restyling/reconstruction projects I've seen are geared toward the very slim or very young. This project works for anyone. It would be good to see more of this. It's refreshing to see more restyling projects that work for all body types and ages.
I don't know how to sew but it's on my list of things to learn. I've found that learning is a life long process. That skirt is so cute. Maybe one day I could make something similar.
I would like to see more on how to begin paper crafts. There are so many tools and materials that it seems overwhealming. I'm most intrested in journal making/ book binding.
