Re: Zippers (Part 1)
I have put in zippers for more years than I care to admit. The best tip I have for any zipper insertion, regular or invisible, is that I always use a zipper longer than I need. The end of the zipper with the pull should extend above the top of your garment.....Now sew both sides from bottom upwih zipper closed. Then, BEFORE you cut off the excess zipper, you MUST open the zipper. Cut the zipper off along the top edge of the garment. If you forget and cut before you open the zipper, you will loose the zipper pull, and will not be able to use the zipper. Usually you will only do that once. Keeping the zipper open, you can finish the top edge with the facing, waistband, or bias edge. Then when you close the zipper, the pull will go right to the top or to the seam line, and you have a nice straight edge to boot. Hope this helps.
