Very cute, but I would use clay (no clump) cat litter, it's less expensive and if it gets wet it doesn't rot! I made one a while back (not nearly as cute!) and used cat litter and it works great at the door
If you use Lavender it also works to keep away bugs without the stink and chemicals of moth balls. I would also use cedar shavings if you can get them.
